THE CENTENARY OF WORLD WAR I

The Heritage Society will be laying a wreath at the Memorial Stone on the Village Green on Sunday the 11th November. There will be a lighting of The Beacon followed by the taking of a picture on the Drumhead Memorial which has been constucted by Craft and Coffee. The Society are to present 'The Homecoming' a series of Poems and readings, with local school children taking part in the Memorial Hall afterwards.

MRS BERYL MORTON RECEIVES HONORARY FREEMEN AWARD

Councillor Ken Wattingham the Town Mayor of Houghton Regis made a visit to Mrs Beryl Morton to present her with a framed certificate after she was awarded Honorary Freemen of Houghton Regis at this years Pride of Houghton Awards. He also presented her with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

The award of Honorary Freeman is one of the most prestigious awards which a council can bestow upon a valued member of the community.

This is the second time the award has been bestowed on a valued member of the community, the first one being to Councillor Robin Hines in 2017.
