CHURCH OPEN DAY

The Heritage Society attended the All Saint's Church Open Day on the 14th of September. The Special Guest of the day was The Bishop of Bedford.

David Hill and Roger Turner were present. Our Stand had pictures of the Church and it's people on display.

In addition  copies of our book and Sarah Gelsthorp's  Up Above The Streets and Houses were on display.

Roger brought along his iPad and displayed live our new Web Archive. On the whole a successful morning!.

In August the Society had an update on progress from James Yeomans Head of Housing Property. ' Works began at the beginning of June and are progressing well. Detailed investigations have been completed to some internal appropriate strip out undertaken by the contractor. Initial repair has been completed to some internal aspects and works to the roof remain ongoing, as per progremme. The project team have been working closely with Central Bedfordshire Council's Conservation Officer and this positive working relationship has enabled good progress to be made'.

SOCIETY WINS PRIDE OF HOUGHTON AWARD

SURPRISE AWARD!

At the Pride of Houghton Award Ceremony held last night in the Memorial Hall Houghton Regis, we received an award for the Societies  services to the town. The award was presented by Ken Wattingham and received by David Hill, Roger Turner and Rae Bird on behalf of the Society.

In addition Roger Turner and David Hill were presented with  Lifetime of Service Awards.

 

David Hill commented ' it was a real surprise to receive an award for the societies work and we are pleased the community appreciate the work we have been doing especially with the Picture Archive. We are greatful to the award sponsor Proludic'.
